Herpes (HSV) Type 1, Type 2 and Shingles Medications

The Herpes Simplex virus is thought to infect from 50% to 80% of the American adult population. There are two main forms of this disease, Type 1 which form oral sores (cold sores/fever blisters) and Type 2 which is more commonly referred to as genital herpes. More than 500,000 Americans are diagnosed with genital herpes each year. A third form of this virus causes Shingles and is thought to infect between 15% to 20% of the of the adult population. Now, following years of research, GlycoMeds (http://www.glyco-meds.com) has developed a Herpes Simples medication that works 30 times faster than any currently known drug.

There is no known cure for the Herpes Simplex virus. However, a number of antiviral medications have been approved by the FDA to treat the Herpes symptoms. None of these medications work very fast requiring from seven to twelve days to alleviate the symptoms and pain and this is only if treatment is started within 72 hours of onset of symptoms. Unlike other HSV medications GlycoMeds new medication doesnt exhibit any adverse side or long term effects or allergic reactions.

Our new HSV medication is a broad spectrum antiviral that kills Group 1 virus generally within a few hours. explained Dr. Roger Brown, CEO of GlycoMeds. Group 1 is one of the seven Baltimore classifications for virus. Smallpox is a Group 1 virus. In 2008 we ran limited human trials to determine the effectiveness of our HSV medication.

In one case, treatment was delayed until the HSV-1 virus, and symptoms, had been active for 36 hours. Within 48 hours of starting treatment all symptoms had ceased with all signs of the virus gone. This required four treatments, two a day for two days. By the end of the second day the infection was gone.

In a second case, HSV-1 treatment was started within two hours of the onset of symptoms. Within six hours of starting treatment all symptoms were gone. This case only required a single treatment.

In a third case, a 66 year old patient who was 72 hours into a Shingles attack took one of our HSV capsules. Within six hours all of his pain was gone and by morning all signs of the infection was gone.

Unlike the other antiviral drugs on the market today, our new HSV medication disrupts the virus DNA directly independent of the virus proteins so it works over a wider range of viral infections. This medication is one of a family of revolutionary medications we have been working on since 2004. Most of these new medications are broad spectrum antiviral compounds that inhibit Group 1 and Group 5 viral replications.

GlycoMeds is now seeking a partner to license and market their Patent Pending HSV medication, which has not yet been presented to the FDA.
